Regarding Conspiracy Theory

In a heated email exchange with the Honorable (though sadly monetarist)businessman, economist, political theorist and all around awesome guy. Mostly regarding perceived dangers in falling to the "Lunatic Fringe" folks. I place that in quotes intentionally, because it has become painfully apparent that the "they" everyone jokes about, really is out to get us. But this is also not to say that "they" have a distinct existence as a monolithic entity. A series of intensely cooperative ratbag murderers who like to get their way at (seemingly) all costs for various reasons is a better term for "them" or N.W.O. or the Snake Headed Rigelian Tinfoil Spot Market Shorters, what have you.

1) There is a healthy amount of those the mainstream label "conspiracy theorists" problem is, it's not theory. The government (or factions of it) *do* engage in shady dealings, as a matter of course, they have historically done so, and pointing out that it makes people uncomfortable and that we should stifle that honesty is unrealistic and undemocratic. Now, this is not to say that we should embrace the Rigelian Invasion Theorists or something, but I have no problem with the premise that Gulf of Tonkin was a "rigged" game set up to get the US public in line for getting us into Vietnam, it's no more of a conspiracy theory than the historical record in the congressional and senate committees that dealt with Iran Contra. To say it's overblown is more of a disingenuous smokescreen than admitting that there is likely to be corruption in any complex system run by people, that is given too much authority and staffed with people with dubious morals and friends in high places.

2) Everyones reading of the constitution is "somewhat selective" just like everyone's reading of the Bible is; while words mean things, people and words have a symbiotic relationship because without interpretation of words the words themselves are meaningless. Overall I think, and will hereby introduce as factual enough the statement that the RP movement recognizes the essential necessity of government, though that government form is min(small/limited)-archy and not an(none at all)-archy. I however sympathize with the founders statements regarding government as being a "necessary evil" emphasis on the latter. It needs to be worried over and treated like a monster, because it is.
